Who We Are

Mission: To bring the benefits of farming to the Jersey City community.

The Rose Avenue Urban Farm is a community-led project by our youth and adult volunteers, developed under Deliverance Children’s Ministry with Monica Shaw as our director. It is being established in order to promote and teach our children the importance of environmental sustainability and the ability to grow your own produce. Greenville has often lacked the quality volunteer service and educational opportunities we see in other parts of Jersey City, and we want to bring some of it right here, right now.

What We Do

Since the farm is still in its development stages, we hold volunteer days every Friday where we help bring the project to fruition, whether it be installing garden beds and filling them with soil or planting seeds for fresh fruits and vegetables. Our volunteers create a lighthearted and safe ambiance, making the work all worth it. In the future, we hope to install classroom-like facilities and collaborate with schools in order to teach children first-hand how to grow their own crops, make their own food, and how to give back to our Earth through environmental sustainability.
