Who We Are

Mission: To create a dementia-friendly New Jersey.

The Act Now Foundation is a grass roots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and educating communities about Alzheimer’s disease, its prevention, and early detection. We are committed to reducing the impact of the disease and fostering communities that are supportive, knowledgeable, and empathetic towards individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias and their caregivers. Through education, support services, and advocacy, we empower caregivers to navigate the challenges of caring for someone with dementia while ensuring that individuals living with dementia receive the care and dignity they deserve.

What We Do

Since 2012, we have worked tirelessly to raise awareness, advocate, and educate New Jersey about Alzheimer’s disease, prevention, and early detection. Today, we are connecting people to vital community resources & information on aging and dementia, while developing innovative new approaches to aging issues.

All of our services are free and funded in part by the Hudson County Office on Aging, the Hudson County Office of Inclusion and Accessibility, the Bergen County Division of Senior Services, the Essex County Division of Senior Services, and Community Development and Services Block Grants.

Our programs and services include:

  • Awareness Campaigns: We conduct initiatives to inform the public about Alzheimer’s disease, aiming to reduce stigma and promote understanding.
  • Educational Programs: We offer free seminars and workshops for seniors, caregivers, and professionals to enhance knowledge about dementia and caregiving strategies.
  • Support Services: We provide support groups and resources for caregivers to assist them in managing the challenges associated with dementia care.
  • Advocacy: We engage in advocacy efforts to influence policies and practices that affect individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
  • And so much more: Cognitive assessments and first responders training are just a few of our various other services we offer.
