Educational Arts Team

Mission: To engage young people with arts based programs, connect their creativity with critical thinking, stimulate their personal growth and academic achievement and to make their learning experiences more meaningful.

The Educational Arts Team, known as “the hidden gem” of Jersey City, is a unique 5-acre suburban-style space within an urban setting. We are a nonprofit organization based in Jersey City, New Jersey, dedicated to enhancing the educational and social development of young people through arts-based programs. We believe in the power of the arts to help young people realize their academic success, increase their self esteem and create a cision of a positive future.

Our programs are grounded in experiential learning theory and have evolved over four decades of research, implementation and refinement. Every lesson models higher order thinking and encourages mutual respect. Our offerings are highly customized to meet the needs of each school and curriculum and are modified for different age groups. Throughout our lessons children are led to question, reflect, deduce, and problem solve while considering issues, themes, and characters from texts that they have read.

The core of our literacy work centers on speaking and listening, reading, asking questions and writing. Through highly interactive theater based strategies, students learn from novels and short stories to access meaning and create their own verbal and written responses.

Our summer camp program, Camp Liberty, serves children ages 6-12, offering artistic expression, social interaction, and recreational activities. With over 45 years of innovative programming, the camp integrates arts and social-emotional learning to create positive, growth-oriented experiences. Located in Liberty State Park, it features amenities like a swimming pool, sports courts, and art spaces, with activities ranging from theater and dance to ceramics and sports.
